Tips for tourists

Finance

The official currency of Bulgaria is the lev. To minimize costs and ensure security, it is recommended to use bank cards in your home currency. It is best to carry up to 90% on a card, as almost all shops, cafes, and restaurants accept cashless payments.

For pocket money or taxis, it's recommended to bring small euros, which are easily exchanged for levs. The exchange rate is fixed: 1 euro = 2 levs, and it has remained unchanged for over 20 years. It's best to exchange currency at banks or official exchange offices, of which there are plenty in Sunny Beach.

For convenience, you can withdraw levs directly from ATMs, where up to 400 levs can be withdrawn in a single transaction. This is safe and profitable. Never exchange money from someone else, as this can be a scam.

Mobile Communications

  • Visitors from the EU can use European roaming, eliminating the need to purchase a local SIM card.
  • For residents of Ukraine, it is more profitable to connect to a roaming package from their operating company than to purchase a local SIM card.

To Sunny Beach by car

If you arrive at the resort by car, please pay attention to parking.

  • Parking is divided into paid public and private. Central parking costs €2.50 per hour, while parking in more remote areas costs €1.50 per hour or €12 per day.
  • Payment for public parking is possible via SMS (the number and text are indicated on the signs).
  • When booking a hotel, check whether parking is available. Even if it's listed, it could be a lie – parking lots are sometimes several kilometers away or already full. Read reviews!
For convenience and safety, it's best to choose paid parking and avoid violations to avoid being towed.
